Animexperience
In partnership with animator Robin Webb, Animexperience works with over one hundred and twenty primary school children to create stop-motion animations and sound effects. These animations are screened at a special red carpet premiere event close to the Animex festival. There they are awarded certificates by special guests. You can view some of these wonderful animations below.
Get PassesIn addition, through our friends at Cineworld, Animexperience provides 1400 children with tickets to special screenings of blockbuster films and animations, often attended by very special guests from major animation studios. During festival week, authors Curtis Jobling and Gabrielle Kent will be sharing their love of writing, reading, animation and idea generation with crowds of school children from around the region. Please contact us at a.ackerley@tees.ac.uk if you'd like further information on this part of the festival. Come on Teesside, let's get animated! Thank you to all of our Animexperience friends and partners! Cineworld Middlesbrough Robin Webb Animation The 99th Garrison, Middlesbrough

Author! Artist! Animator!
While well known as the creator and designer of many of the nation's best loved children's animated shows (Bob the Builder, Frankenstein's Cat, Raa Raa the Noisy Lion), Curtis is also the author of numerous books for middle grade and teen audiences. His award winning novels include the Wereworld series, Haunt, World of Warriors and Max Helsing. A former student of Cleveland College of Art and Design, this exclusive schools talk will feature all aspects of Curtis's work in film, TV and publishing, including rare animation screening, live illustration, fun and interactive powerpoints, culminating in a reading from one of his novels.

Ideas, where do they come from?
Gabrielle Kent | Teesside University
This will be a lively and interactive talk in which Gabrielle will discuss some of the ideas and inspiration behind her books, and a range of the processes she went through in developing the concepts further. There will be lots of ideas for tasks for the pupils to develop further in class, such as writing pages of ‘What Ifs’, creating crazy sandwich recipes, moodboards, and jumbled up people and animals.
