Corey Smyth
Game Designer
During his time at Teesside University, Corey realised he had a passion for Game Design and achieved his goal with the help from his tutors and peers.
He started off his Game Design career working at an indie company called R8 Games on the anti-gravity racer Pacer during his final year of studies. He grew in knowledge and confidence during his time there, which ultimately lead him to land at his current position of Game Designer at Coconut Lizard working alongside Rare on the BAFTA award winning Sea of Thieves. He cannot wait to progress in his career of Game Design and looks forward to helping inspiring game developers to do the same.

Design and Programming: Experience, Tips and Collaboration
The difference between Design and Programming can be seen as night and day. However, one cannot function without the other, otherwise you will end up with all the ideas with no functionality or all the functionality with no idea.
We will be talking about the collaboration between these two disciplines, how they affect one another and how they affect the rest of the team like Art, Audio and VFX to name but a few. Furthermore, we will talk about our own experiences of game development, from university to where we are now, and what advice we would give to all inspiring game developers.
