Animex Exhibition

Each year, the Animex Exhibition showcases the work of talented artists across film, games, and creative art.

The exhibition is a must-see event, open to the public and welcoming everyone to explore stunning visuals, thought-provoking installations and behind-the-scenes insights into the creative process. Whether you're a student, industry professional or simply curious about creativity, there's something for everyone.

This year, we are featuring the work of stop motion artist Virpi Kettu, who also created Tyler the Tardigrade, the first physical mascot for this year's festival.

VIRPI KETTU

Virpi Kettu is an award-winning director, animator and digital artist with more than 20 years' experience working across Europe and Canada.

She has worked on productions for Aardman Animations, including Wallace and Gromit, Shaun the Sheep and Creature Comforts, as well as projects for the National Film Board of Canada, DreamWorks and Universal Pictures.

Her work on music videos spans both sides of the Atlantic, collaborating with artists including Run the Jewels, Father John Misty, Radiohead and Katy Perry.

Virpi also lectures, teaches and delivers workshops on animation and immersive media techniques at schools, universities and festivals around the world.

Her most recent work includes the augmented reality and transmedia storytelling project Dogs' Dales, as well as co-authoring an academic research paper exploring how animation can support information transfer and retention.

Founded in 2012, Kettu Studios is an animation, film and immersive media production studio that collaborates with exceptional international artists. The studio works at the forefront of storytelling-led AR and VR research and development, exploring innovative approaches to education and audience engagement.
