Rachelle Lewis

Manager of Artistic Recruitment, Digital Domain

Rachelle Lewis Rachelle began her career in animation at the ripe old age of five, when she spent Saturday mornings glued to the television set at her parent’s home in the Chicago suburbs absorbing anything animated by Chuck Jones and eating Cocoa Puffs. After numerous attempts trying to figure out what she wanted to be when she grew up, Rachelle ended up studying acting in New York. Because she liked the luxurious things in life, (electricity and heat), she took a “real job” with an ad agency in NYC where she found artists to design ads and merchandising for children’s programs including PeeWee’s Playhouse.

After moving to L.A., Rachelle began working with Iwerks Entertainment, and in 1995 formed her own consulting business recruiting artists and animators primarily for the then-booming internet industry. She joined Klasky Csupo in April 2000 as Director of Recruitment where she was responsible for sourcing artistic talent from around the world for such award winning animated Features and TV series as Rugrats, Wild Thornberrys, and Rocket Power.

In August of 2003 Rachelle joined the recruitment team at DreamWorks Feature Animation and helped bring in artists on such projects as Shrek 2, Shark Tale, and Over the Hedge. She then went on to work for the Digital Character Group at Sony Pictures Imageworks, to recruit animation talent for feature films including Open Season, The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, Surf’s Up, Monster House, Ghost Rider, and Spiderman 3.

Rachelle has lectured (some would say ranted) at art schools, universities, animation festivals and industry events throughout North America and Europe. She sits on the Board of Directors for Women in Animation, and advisory boards for numerous animation programs. She resides in Los Angeles with her dog Russell, and cat Princess Lena Kiki Vanderpooten III.

Rachelle is currently Manager of Artistic Recruitment of Digital Doman, the five time Academy Award Winning Studio for best visual effects, and technical achievement, currently working on numerous films including Steven Speilberg and Clint Eastwood's Flags of our Fathers.
