Industry experts hail Animex’s worldwide appeal
Some of the biggest names in animation and computer games have hailed the Animex festival as a resounding success which boosts Teesside’s reputation all over the world.

The 13th annual Animex festival of animation and computer games was held at Teesside University from 6 to 10 February.
Many of the guest speakers said the enduring appeal of Animex is down to its international flavour and the fact it attracts industry experts and guests from all over the world.
Animex began as a two day conference in 2000 and now spans five days of awards ceremonies, film screenings, master classes, workshops and talks by inspirational global figures from the worlds of animation and computer games.
Among the dazzling array of talent who attended this year’s festival was Teesside University honorary graduate Dr Max Howard, the former president of the Exodus Film Group. Max has worked on some of Disney's most memorable films including Who Framed Roger Rabbit, The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin and The Lion King.
Other guest speakers included Teesside University graduate Dan Zelcs, who now works as a Lead Rigger for the Moving Picture Company, and author and comics writer Karen Traviss.
