Animation supervisor, MPC

Ferran has over 12 years’ visual effects experience in animation for. He studied photography and video for five years and completed a master’s degree in computer animation. In 1999 he joined the Californian effects company Electrashock, where he worked as an animator and motion capture operator. He was hired to work on several projects including lead TD for the feature Vertical Limit. He then moved to London to help finish other sequences in Soho based Peerless Camera Company. Ferran stayed in London working on commercials for Smoke and Mirrors, then re-joined Peerless in 2001 to work as an animator on Roberto Beningni’s feature Pinocchio.
In 2002 he was hired by MPC to work on Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life as a character animator. Ferran then went on to work as an animator for Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkhaban , Alien Vs Predator and The Da Vinci Code. He then became an animation supervisor for Harry Potter and the goblet of fire, and worked on four more Harry Potter movies including Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 and 2 both as animation supervisor and on-set previs supervisor. Most recently Ferran worked as animation supervisor on Ridley Scott's Prometheus.
Talk: Animating an Alien World
MPC's animation supervisor, Ferran Domenech will present the animation team's work on Ridley Scott's Prometheus, focusing on the hammerpede creature, the prometheus and engineer spaceships and the work involved in bringing them to life.
