Creative Director, Open World Designer
Speaking at Animex Game
Richard has been working in the games industry for 16 years since graduating from Manchester Metropolitan University with a degree in 3D Design. He started out as an artist for various small studios before joining Mucky Foot Productions in 1998 where he worked on the console title Urban Chaos and the PC Space Station Sim Startopia.
From there Richard went on to work for Criterion Games for ten years, on the award winning Burnout series from Burnout 3: Takedown through to Burnout Paradise in various roles including world design/art lead and UI lead. He also worked as a level art lead on the critically acclaimed FPS BLACK. He then moved onto World Design for Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit whilst also performing as Creative Director for the award winning Burnout CRASH!, for which he directed art, audio and design. Richard also worked with David Hasselhoff, writing and directing a series of outrageous web ads for the game. Since then he has moved on to start his own studio, creating tongue-in-cheek mobile games - more information to follow in January 2013!
Richard is launching an indie game development studio in January 2013 specialising in innovative, refreshing and quirky new takes on gameplay for mobile platforms.
He is looking for talented graduate artists/animators with unique flair and style, who can turn their hand to different genres, in both 2D and 3D. Please don't hesitate to come and see him during Players' Lounge (with a portfolio/showreel) if you think you are suitable, or even if you just need some feedback or advice.
