Speaking at Animex Game
Rhianna is a fourteen-year veteran of the videogames industry, having gone from being a journalist for PC Zone magazine and The Guardian newspaper, to moving into games development and becoming one of the most respected writers and narrative designers in her field.
She has worked for companies such as Sony, Electronic Arts, SEGA, Codemasters and Square Enix, and her titles include: Heavenly Sword, Mirror’s Edge and the entire Overlord series. Rhianna’s work in videogames has seen her nominated three times for the Writers’ Guild of Great Britain’s Best Videogame Script award, which she won in 2008 for Overlord. That same year her work on Heavenly Sword was also recognised with a BAFTA nomination for ‘Story and Character’.
Most recently, she has been announced as the lead writer on the new Tomb Raider re-boot, which is due to be released by Crystal Dynamics and Eidos/Square Enix in March 2013. Rhianna was named one of the top 100 most influential women in the games industry by EDGE magazine and has spoken on numerous panels, radio-shows and documentaries. She also has the rare honour of having been interviewed by both Vogue and Playboy.
On top of her work in videogames Rhianna has also worked in comics, (notably Mirror’s Edge for DC and Tomb Raider: The Beginning for Dark Horse) short stories, non-fiction books, film and TV. She is also co-director of the Narrativia production company. Rhianna lives in London with a pair of neurotic tabbies.
