Oli co-founded Animation Studio Blue-Zoo Productions in 2000 which has since won many awards. He is the creative driving force behind Blue-Zoo and is responsible for generating new ideas, writing and directing animation projects. Oli also maintains strong relationships with broadcast and media companies coordinating project funding and programme development.
As a talented animator, producer and director he was nominated for Young Animator of the Year 2002 by Broadcast magazine and was a finalist at the prestigious Young Businessman of Year awards in 2004. In 2006 Oli wrote and produced Those Scurvy Rascals for Nickelodeon UK which received a BAFTA nomination for Animation in 2006 and also won two British Animation awards for Children's Choice and Best Children's Animation. In 2010 Oli helped set up and became chairman of Animation UK, a group aggrieved that the UK is losing work overseas because of foreign tax incentives. Animation UK aims to work with the Government to get the best possible trading conditions for the UK. Oli's latest creation Olive the Ostrich (52 x 5 mins episodes) has reached the number one spot on Nick Jr and continues to be a growing success.
Talk: Animation UK
Animation UK was formed in 2010 to represent the UK's animation industry. Members include British animation companies and businesses, ranging from the largest players to small specialists. It aims to work with the Government to get the best possible trading conditions for UK producers faced with increasingly subsidised competition. This talk will describe how Animation UK is campaigning to help protect or increase the ownership of IP that is of such value to the UK Economy. It will also explore how the campaign started, what it has achieved so far, and its aims for the future.
