The 2011 programme has a mix of styles from the abstract and experimental to established classics and gives you the opportunity, regardless of your age, to see films that you might otherwise never get the chance to see.
This year's schedule includes choice selections of acclaimed international shorts and features from the festival circuit, special guest screenings and the very best in new student animation from around the world selected from our own Animex Awards, so you can be sure of some fantastic entertainment.
The week begins with the Features for Families screenings at the Cineworld multiplex on Sunday 6 February where kids can bring their parents and watch their choice of fine films for free. This year we want to break our own records and screen more films for families than ever before.
Alongside our usual line up we are pleased to bring Don Hahn's excellent documentary 'Waking Sleeping Beauty' to our screens. The film charts how Disney regained its magic from the dark days of the early 80's to the new heights of hits such as 'Little Mermaid', 'Beauty and the Beast', 'Aladdin',' The Lion King' and more - over a 10 year period.
Check the screening summary to see what is happening when and look at the website regularly for announcements of any surprise screenings.
Screenings take place daily at the Teesside University campus and at the Cineworld Multiplex in Middlesbrough and are free of charge, unless otherwise stated.
With such an eclectic mix of fine films you can be sure that whatever your taste in animation there will be something for everyone at Animex 2011.
