Speaking at Animex Business
Andy’s career began in 1984 in Manchester making industrial films, but having taken this live action path he realised his full enthusiasm was for animation. Andy returned to education taking a master’s degree in animation at the Royal College of Art. His graduation short film Strangers In Paradise was shown at film festivals worldwide winning several prizes including a Gold Hugo at the Chicago Film Festival and Best Film at Varna Animation Festival.
Upon graduating Andy won the LUI Royal College prize which came with a cash reward. This helped him establish 3 Peach Animation, with two co-partners, where Andy directed many commercials, title sequences and stings for both TV and cinema.
In 1996 Andy made the move from traditional animation into computer generated images, joining Studioaka in 1998 to run a computer arts department within this traditional animation house. Ten years on Studioaka has grown to become a BAFTA-winning animation production company known internationally for its idiosyncratic and innovative work for clients such as Lloyds Bank, Guinness, BUPA and The National Lottery. Studioaka have also produced a range of short films including the BAFTA winning Lost and Found.
