Animex Festival Director and Head of Animexperience head to China to deliver talks and workshops
Chris Williams, Animex Festival Director, and Dougy Pincott, Head of Animexperience, head to China this week to present at the China Cartoon Industry Forum (CCIF), which is supported by the Chinese Government.
Williams and Pincott were invited to speak at the event which takes place in Guiyang in China in September by Mr Luiyi Wang, Deputy Secretary-General of CCIF and Mr Sander K Johnson, President of International Television for Asia.
They all met at the Red Stick Festival in April 2007 where Mr Wang and Mr Johnson heard Williams and Pincott speak about the way Animex has become a mechanism for encouraging creativity in the young people of Teesside.
China is undergoing a cultural revolution and the Government is currently encouraging the young people of China to help the country become a powerhouse in the animation industry, creating product for its own market and the international market, as well as producing content for foreign studios.
Williams and Pincott have been called upon to demonstrate how the Animex model works. Chris Williams said, 'It's a real honour that representatives of Animex have been asked to go to China to explain what we are doing here on Teesside. Mr Wang is sure that we can help him and his colleagues begin to show what can be achieved when working with very young children, particularly with the use of animation.'
Dougy Pincott added, 'This is a fantastic opportunity for both Animex and Teesside to showcase its knowledge and creative skills to the world's fastest growing economic power. It is also a massive tribute to everybody involved in Animex, both organisers and participants, that we have been invited to make this presentation as leaders in our field.'
Apart from presenting at CCIF, event organisers are keen to make more formal links with Animex, something that is already happening behind the scenes.
