Philip Hunt is a Partner, Director and Creative Director at London’s renowned STUDIO AKA. Under Philip's creative direction, STUDIO AKA has developed into a world-class animation company known for its creative excellence and innovative approach to projects. As a senior animation director Philip has also directed an eclectic range of commercials, including award winning spots for Orange, Time, Dyson and BMW.
An MA graduate of London’s Royal College of Art, Philip's directing work also includes the multi-award winning short film Ah Pook is Here - an interpretation of recordings by the late William S. Burroughs - which is included in both the Burroughs retrospective exhibition: Ports of Entry, and the permanent collection at the Goethe Institute.
Philip won a D&AD award for his work with interaction designers Edwards Churcher on Birdgame; an interactive animation project for COMPAQ. He also created two groundbreaking animation microsites for the FIFA 2002 world cup. Philip also collaborated with celebrated design company Graphic Thought Facility to create the studios evolving corporate identity, a best selling promotional book of studio artwork and is the driving force behind the studios website development. Alongside regular lecture appearances he has appeared in numerous books and magazines, most recently writing the introduction to the best selling book of character design: Pictoplasma 2
Philip was also executive producer - with his partners Pam Dennis and Sue Gaffe - on STUDIO AKA Director Marc Craste’s BAFTA winning short animation: Jojo in the Stars.
