Middlesbrough Borough Council
Arts Development aspires to develop access to and participation in a broad variety of art forms - including contemporary dance, music, visual arts, performing arts, digital media and animation. We bring some of the very best national and regional artists and arts organisations into the town, as well as supporting local artists.
Middlesbrough Council has worked with the Animex team for three years with the aim of developing a town wide festival that is vibrant and inclusive. A burgeoning programme of youth movie making has generated a unique and exciting collection of films that have been premiered at Animex Teentoons each year. Boy Who Killed A Fly was one of three nominations for best comedy at the First Light awards ceremony in London in February 2003. This year Creative Partnerships have worked with Arts Development to create a series of animated stings, which will be shown across the festival programme.
Middlesbrough Council views Animex as one of the most important elements in its cultural programme. Arts Development is delighted to be part of and contribute to the growth of the festival to become as 'must see' in the international animation calendar.
