The animated Sting which won’t
04 November 03
Calling all aspiring animators. Are you interested in making a five second animation clip?
Animex Stings is a new part of the annual Animex event organised by the University of Teesside with support from Middlesbrough Council. It challenges professional animators, would-be animators, hobbyists, enthusiasts or artists with skills in other areas to create a short five second animated clip (known as a sting). Animex Stings offers the chance to learn new skills, update existing skills, work with other animators, benefit from tutorial help, and use industry standard kit to create an animated sting to be shown at the University Cinema during Animex 2004.
Five animators will be chosen to develop and screen their sting at the start of each day’s activity during the Animex International Animation Festival, which runs from Monday 26 - Friday 30 January 2004.
To be eligible for the project entrants should fill in an application form and present their film ideas in the form of a written document and a storyboard to an interview panel in December 2003.
Carol Cooke, Cultural & Creative Industries Development Manager, said: “This is a great opportunity to learn more about animation, and develop existing skills. The chosen animators will have access to the University’s state of the art computer animation equipment and software as well as receiving guidance from a tutor. There is also a bursary of £100 available. And the fact that the stings will all be shown during Animex, means people will see their own short work on the big screen in front of industry professionals.”
