Wednesday 2 February | 6.30pm - 8.30pm
University of Teesside Cinema, Woodlands Road, Middlesbrough
More animators, more community centres, loads of participants and as many short films as we can fit into an hour – that’s Animex Town and you can be part of it. Join us for an evening of animation where community groups, animators, students and individuals will show their work on the big screen at the University of Teesside.
If you would like to hear a professional talk about the industry, get tips on how to improve your animation, show your work, receive a certificate and enjoy a buffet and glass of wine, then contact us and we’ll tell you, or your group, how to get involved. We’ll also send you a free ticket for the evening.
Previously animators have been working with community groups like Ayresome, Langridge, ACE, Erimus, Breckon Hill and Grove Hill who have produced some great animation. Seed Animation, who have been working with community groups, said: ‘It was absolutely fantastic, we got to meet some great people who hadn’t really touched animation before. They came up with great and innovative ideas. The results were impressive.”
Animex Town is not only showcasing the talent of students and local film makers, but also highlighting Middlesbrough's ethnic diversity with a showreel of films created by Breckon Hill's African community with the assistance of University volunteers.
But that's not all. After the show on Wednesday 2 February the colour and vibrancy of the African continent will continue with music from Afro Caribbean ensemble ACANE. Chat to industry professionals and discuss the films with the people who made them while the six-piece outfit - who hail from all corners of Africa - provide traditional sounds and pulsating tribal rhythms. It's not to be missed and is sure to be the perfect soundtrack to just one of the shows you can expect from another exciting week of innovation and creativity.
