Creator of all time classics such as Cannon Fodder and Sensible Soccer discusses two topics close to his heart:
How well crafted game design psychologically aids players to immerse themselves in the game world.
How experience is vital in making good intuitive design decisions under pressure.

1.30pm Managing the Production Process
Clint Ourso, Project manager at Volition will be talking about his role navigating teams of artists and programmers through the twists and turns of the game creation process.
2.30pm The Construction of Ludic Spaces
Ernest Adams discusses game architectural environments and spaces. This lecture is about the use of architecture in game design - not software architecture, but real architecture: buildings and outdoor spaces. Buildings in games are not analogous to real buildings but to movie sets. Their primary purpose is to serve the gameplay, just as the function of a movie set is to serve the movie's narrative, and therefore they are not bound by the conventional rules of architecture. In addition to serving the gameplay, however, constructed spaces entertain in their own right. The lecture includes a number of examples showing how this was done in various commercially-released games.

4.00pm Ken Wong - Ideas into Images: An Introduction to Concept Art
What is concept art, and why is it so important in the creation of games and movies? Where do concept artists get their ideas? What does it take to become a good concept artist? Veteran concept artist, illustrator and art director Ken Wong discusses these questions and more whilst sharing with us some of his recent work for Enlight and American McGee which portrays traditional children’s stories such as Grimm’s Tales and the Wizard of Oz in a very different light.
