Streets Ahead SRB Partnership
Middlesbrough’s Community and Cultural Fund is a new initiative backed by the Council and the Streets Ahead Single Regeneration Budget (SRB) partnership.
Within six months the fund has supported a range of high profile arts events in Middlesbrough Town Centre (to the tune of £50,000) offering public benefit in terms of access, impact and value for money. On top of this the Council has levered-in a further £100,000 of grant aid from the Lottery and private sector sponsors.
Animex stands out as the most exciting event yet. Our Awards Panel, comprising of town centre residents, gave the festival their wholehearted approval with a grant of £10,000 - the maximum for any one project.
Cllr Chris Robson, Chair of the Panel, said: "‘The Community and Cultural fund offers a fantastic opportunity for grassroots groups to access grants. Many smaller organisations have really been encouraged by our initiative. I was extremely impressed with the line-up for the International Festival of Animation. In particular, I look forward to seeing ‘Animex Town’ which will showcase animated films created by local groups.’
