From animation to games, 3D imaging, visual media and software are emerging as clear strengths for the North East's economy.
The recently-launched Digital Centre of Excellence, part of Regional Development Agency One NorthEast's strategy for success, is working hard to build on the region's emerging strength in digital media and technology.
Herbert Kim, Chief Executive for the Digital Centre of Excellence said: "I see our sponsorship of Animex as a great investment to raise the profile of the success we have achieved so far in the North East and an ideal way to nurture even greater achievements in the future.
"We see Animex as playing a key role in helping us to build on the region's position as a national and international leader in visual media and software. The festival will be an important showcase for the North East and I am sure it will be a great success. We are delighted to support it."
The Digital Centre of Excellence is one of five centres set up by One NorthEast to build on the cutting-edge work in the North East's universities and colleges by attracting new investment, businesses and jobs. The other centres include process industries, nanotechnology, new and renewable energy and life sciences
